PHISHING SCAM:

On November 23, 2011 a fraudulent text message is being sent to customers and non customers about compromised debit cards.

This is an absolute fraud and should not be responded to.

If you have given out any private information, please call 800 264-5578 and cancel your card.

Virus Warning "Gameover Attack"
Please be aware that the FBI has posted a bulletin on a particularly successful malware attack that is currently active and poses a direct threat to anyone who utilizes online financial services such as online banking.
Waterbury Firefighter FCU
Beware of scammers who identify themself as being with Card Services for Credit Unions (CSCU). (CSCU is the service provider for our credit card program.) The scammer then says and that because of having paid your bill on time you are eligible to have your interest rate reduced to 6%. The scammer then says all they need is your credit card number in order for you to get the lower rate.
First Commonwealth
First Commonwealth members have received automated messages regarding their debit/credit cards. The message states something like: “Your card has been blocked by your financial institution. Press 2 to enter your 16-digit card number.”
Polish National Credit Union
The Polish National Credit Union (PNCU)  is warning its customers of a phishing scam presently doing the rounds in Massachusetts. All of them featured the same message: your account at the PNCU was temporary disabled owing to system failure in the billing section. To reactivate it, you are asked to submit your credit card number and PIN at a place mentioned in the messages.  People receiving text messages and telephone calls were asked to call up a certain number to reactivate their accounts in this manner. Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank
Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts was targeted by a phishing scam recently.  Residents complained of receiving calls from the bank on their mobile phones and landline numbers. The calls, sometimes received at unearthly hours, told them there was a problem with their bank cards.
Centerville Bank in Rhode Island
Pre-recorded phone messages are being delivered to random consumers of Centerville Bank in Rhode Island with the warning their debitcards have been closed. The return telephone number provided by the fraudsters requests a card number and PIN.
Credit Union of Vermont
The Credit Union of Vermont is being targeted by a text message scam. You may receive a text message claiming that your card has been blocked, with a number to call for information.
North Jersey Federal
CHECK FRAUD: North Jersey Federal has been advised that a check fraud scam is circulating counterfeit NJFCU checks.  The scam is yet another variation of the international lottery winner pitch.
Haverhill Fire Department Credit Union
Text Message, from number 978-373-3861, reading, "RTN F.C.U. ALERT: Your card starting with 4792 has been DEACTIVATED, please contact us at 978-204-1262", is being sent to Haverhill Fire Department Credit Union members.
Ridgewood Savings Bank
Phone Call Claiming to be Ridgewood Savings Bank.  If you receive a phone call claiming to be Ridgewood Savings Bank asking you for Debit Card number and/or PIN number.
Lower East Side People FCU
Lower East Side People FCU has been notified of members receiving a text message that reads:  ”Your Credit Union debit card has a pending alert. Call now free: 1-866-202-9457 and follow instructions to resolve this alert.
Mt. Washington Bank
Customers of Mt. Washington Bank are being called through an automated line informing them that their Debit Card has been compromised or suspicious activity has occurred. The message asks that customers leave their debit card number and expiration date on the automated line.
North Penn FCU
North Penn FCU have been alerted that an email is being sent saying that all accounts at North Penn FCU were recently updated with a new security enhancement and for your security, your account has been temporarily suspended. It then asks you to contact a phone number.
A Federal Credit Union
Members of A Federal Credit Union have reported receiving phone calls saying their card has been compromised or needs to be re-activated. The callers claim to be from the A Federal Credit Union. The fraudulent calls are automated and have been reported to originate from the following numbers: (626) 927-9365, (202) 375-5000, (302) 544-7101 and (866) 324-5626.
Keystone FCU
Keystone FCU received reports of a telephone text message alert scam. The fraudulent text message alert included a message asking the member to send the last four digits his/her social security number. The message also stated that Keystone FCU would email the member's account number to him/her. This is not a legitimate text message and was not authorized by Keystone FCU.

Connex received notification over the last several days that some members (and non-members) may have received a text message containing some or all of the following quotes:

SECU has had several calls from members who have received a phone call from 718-683-3104.
LANCO Federal Credit Union
LANCO Federal Credit Union members have reported receiving fraudulent phone calls, asking them to activate or unblock their card by calling a number.
